Sacha Calmon – Misabel Derzi

The Sacha Calmon Misabel Derzi Institute is a non-profit association, established in 2021 by the partners of the SCMD law firm, aiming to promote a fairer and more egalitarian society.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

The institute is governed by Professors Sacha Calmon, Misabel Derzi, and André Mendes Moreira who comprise its board of directors. The institute’s primary objectives include the enhancement of access to justice, the advancement of legal education in Brazil, and the provision of support to aspiring legal professionals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

FOCUS OF THE SCMD INSTITUTE

  • Award scholarships to students enrolled in public higher education institutions, thereby providing assistance in the education of future legal professionals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds;
  • Disseminate legal knowledge to public schools and innovate teaching methodologies in law;
  • Contribute to the professional and academic development of law students enrolled in public higher education institutions, thereby fostering their growth and learning;
  • Promote, endorse, and organize courses, lectures, meetings, conferences, and debates pertinent to its social mission;
Sacha Calmon Misabel Derzi Scholarship

In fulfillment of one of its missions, the SCMD Institute has initiated the 1st Sacha Calmon and Misabel Derzi Scholarship Call, designed to offer monthly financial assistance to students enrolled in the Law School of UFMG, extendable until the completion of their undergraduate studies. This initiative aims to contribute to the academic development of students from the public higher education sector who require financial support to dedicate themselves to their studies.
